This was written on New year’s Eve 2017 while waiting for the fireworks at Disneyland to start and from the comfort of the hotel room we were in. I waited until today to spend some much quality time with family:
Today is the last day of 2017. I say this with a heavy heart. Not because I did not like 2017 but because we just found out that one of our friends passed on early Christmas morning. As I look towards Disneyland Park and await the fireworks that will ring in the New Year, I strongly feel lead to tell everyone reading this not to take your life here on earth too lightly.
Every second of every minute of every hour of every day counts. Make it count! Don’t let life pass you by. James chapter 4 verse 14 explains it this way:
“Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.”
James was right. We don’t know when the Lord will call us home or when our body will just give up its life. We must always make every second count. Go and tell your kids you love them. Hold your husband or wife and tell them how much they mean to you and how different life would be without them.
Cherish every moment you have with those whom you love. Work hard but also enjoy life. Serve God in all things. And when your life is done, you would have made a big difference in the lives you came in contact with.
Let 2018 start right in your life. Don’t set any goal that doesn’t include drawing close to Christ. If you read all of James chapter 4, you’ll see that we first submit to god, then we draw close to Him. By doing these things, the enemy will flee and stay away. Submitting and drawing close to Christ is where real wisdom comes, and this is how and where you should start your New Year’s goals. Submit, draw close & don’t waste the precious time God has for your life!
