God Keeps His Promises

“And a Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who turn from transgression,” says the Lord.21 “As for me, this is my covenant with them,” says the Lord. “And my Spirit that is upon you, and my words that I have put in your mouth, won’t depart from your mouth, or from the mouths of your children, or from the mouths of your children’s children, from now on and forever.” Hebrew Scriptures Book of the Prophet Isaiah Chapter 59 verses 20 & 21

Yesterday was a special day for my wife and I. It was my first grandkid’s dedication. For me to be able to see this come to fruition is special. You see, most people want their kids to grow up, hold down a great job, get married and have children. These aspirations are all good goals to have. But my biggest thought and prayer is to have my children’s children come to know the Lord like I have  been blessed to. But my prayer for them is to have them love and know God even more personally than the previous generations.

If God should wait to come for his children another thousand years, my prayer is to have all of my descendants know Christ in such a personal way that they don’t steer away from the relationship with their Creator.

The first step for my grandson was to get dedicated. It was a very important step because it showed the world that my daughter and son (in-law) are series about pointing their kids to the One and True God of the universe.

For me, it is a promise that I hold dear, that if my wife and I hang on to God and listen to His will in our lives, He will bless our kids and their kid’s kids. Not because of us, but because if we have been faithful to the Lord and His word, we have passed this on to our kids and they will pass it on to theirs. We as parents are not done pointing our family to Christ. I will definitely not stop pointing them to Christ until my last breath.

So if you have a child or grandchild who has parted ways with God and family, do not give up. Keep praying for them and keep God’s promises close to your heart. The legacy of children coming to know God personally and intimately is what He promises us if we have trained them well. That is the best legacy I could pass on to them and it’s better than gold and riches of this earth because the gold that we seek here will one day only be the street pavement in heaven (Revelation 21:21)…
