“…But as for me, the nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, That I may tell of all Your works…” Psalm 73 verse 28*
“…32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?”… Luke’s Gospel chapter 24 verse 32 KJV**
There are times when people will forget everything just to have a deep, meaningful moment with the Lord. Those time are the time that I most cherish. We all lead busy lives and are always praying for this and that thing. But I find that the best memories were those when I was hurting and seeking out God not to ask but to praise Him.
Those times are the ones I remember the most. Not the ones where I was pleading with Him for forgiveness or healing of some kind or lifting up others. These were the times where I was hurting in some way, whether mentally, physically or spiritually for myself or others and yet, I did not start my prayer by asking. For I knew that the only thing that would bring joy back was to forget everything.
In leaving my worldly things behind, I was now on the road to Emmaus, and Jesus was now giving me the most incredible life lessons. In those moments, I wasn’t able to keep up with His love, grace, and mercy. His tenderness displayed was uplifting and powerful.
These are the times when I think and write my best…
Those times I come to praise, walk and listen, are the times He speaks to me the most….I would encourage you to sing His praises before and after your journey to Emmaus… I would encourage you to find your Road to Emmaus..
Take me to that special road
That leads me back to You
May I walk intently listening,
To the Man who knows my all
May He tell me things of
love, grace, mercy & peace
Take me to that special road
Let me savor every moment
May He open up my eyes
As we walk & see His Glory
His Shoulders bear my heavy loads
On that special road!
Take me to that special road
May He ask to dine with me
So I can ask much more of Him
& crave to stay eternally
May I know His tenderness
And feel complete in kindness
Take me to that special road
Which leads me to my knees
Praising You, in adoration
May my sins be laid right at Your feet
Leave them at the Rock’s foundation
Knowing You will make me clean
Oh, Lord, may You see my heart today
And find all my sorrows
So that You can bring me to the special road
That brings me back to You
Where You will give me hope and faith
And guide me in all I do
