Friday Thought of the Day:
Friday Thought of the Day:
“Don’t pray when you feel like it. Have an appointment with the Lord and keep it. A man is powerful on his knees.”—Corrie ten Boom
—Lord, may we be extremely intentional when it comes to communicating with You above all else.
—May we not forget to listen to what You have to say to us.
—May we sit still enough to hear Your Spirit and be filled by You so that we could have our full warrior armor on! because the only way we can pray in the Spirit at all times is by having our warrior armor on!
If you want to pray intentionally and you don’t know how. Start here:
“saying, “By a charge we commanded you not to teach in this name, and behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you intend to bring upon us the blood of this man.”But Peter and the apostles answering said, “It is necessary to obey God rather than men.” — Peter in Acts chapter 5:28-29
I was talking to One of the guys in our family who is in full-time ministry along with his wife. He was telling me that the city Council of that city that the church is in, sent a letter telling all Christian churches that they were not to use the name of Jesus anymore in city council prayer meetings..
I disagree 100% with that. As Christians we do not cower because we have the power. As Christians we do not run from fire we run into the fire because like the three young men and the story of Daniel Jesus will hold us and keep us and protect us. We won’t do as the world says — for all to bow down to satanic images and culture; we do not, we cannot.
—It would behoof all of you not to try to hide His Name that is systematically being deleted. It will be in vain! The Roman Empire tried, they failed. All kingdoms have tried but failed. Don’t make the same mistake as they did. Instead embrace and welcome His name into your lives and into society. Jesus has changed societies for the better.
Christmas Series Part IV
As all of us are trying to make this Christmas Season special and joyous for loved ones, may we not forget those that are hurting during this time of the year. Some people will be spending Christmas alone. Some may be going through some tough financial times. Others may have bad memories of this season. Some may have lost a loved one too close to this Holy day period.
Whatever the reason, may we be sensitive to the needs of others.
- This season, if you are one of those that are hurting, whether you have lost a precious person, or are going through something traumatic, I invite you to feel joy this Christmas, like those that heard the greatest of news about two thousand years ago.
That a Child was born in a manger, to bring mankind back to a lasting relationship with their Creator. His name is Jesus, the Savior of the world.
He is here to comfort all who need comforting.
He is here to counsel anyone who asks for His wisdom because He is called A Wonderful Counselor.
- He has come to bring peace because He is the Prince of peace.
The baby in the manger is Jesus, who is all this and more. He is the Eternal, Mighty God, Everlasting Father. He will bring you comfort and joy if only you should ask Him. Go ahead ask Jesus to heal those wounds you have. I promise that He will take all the burdens you have and make them lighter…
In Roman times when a baby was born, the midwives would gently swaddle the newborn and lay the baby right in front of the father. If the father picked the baby up from the floor, he or she was accepted into the family.
- On the other hand, if the baby was left on the floor he or she was taken outside for “disposal”.
Because promiscuity was normal in Roman society, mistrust was common in the family structure. Having babies born in a house with doubting husbands, was a disadvantage.
A husband with the smallest of inklings that the baby was not his, would instruct his servants to get rid of the baby. It was up to the father to approve of the newborn and accept it into the family. Not a very good way for a baby to come into the world but this was how it was.
In came the new religion of those who called themselves Christians. Ever growing numbers from all walks of life; slaves, masters, free men, and women were coming into a personal relationship with Jesus the Jewish Messiah.
- Christians who saw rejected displaced babies would pick them up, take them home and made those infants their very own.
We have to remember that a great percentage of Romans were slaves and had very few means to provide for their own children. Yet, they would still bring another mouth to feed. The kindness they showed to strangers’ babies would have a huge impact on all Roman Society witnessing these incredible acts of love.
- We find the same thing happening presently. Where people are “disposing” of their newborns like the Romans did two thousand years ago.
But the great news is, that Christians are once more stepping up and adopting children fortunate enough to be born and given up, instead of being aborted. Christians are bringing babies into their households. I have, with exceeding joy witnessed this among our circles and see that Christ’s love still reigns.
- Even if people think that this world is getting darker, the Light of Christ still has the power to change modern societies with its overwhelming sense of compassion.
God is so amazing, He turns everything that is meant for bad in this world, into good. By Christians fulfilling the love of Jesus and bringing in kids from all over the world, from different ethnicities, they are turning God’s people into an incredible mosaic of love.

Before reading anything click to watch Bishop EW Jackson’s encouragement to black voters. I encourage every voter to take the same stand. Then please read this post…
As a registered Independent voter, I have a different view of what is going on in the political world without being subjective to one party or the next. I have voted for both party candidates in the past. But more and more, this has changed for me. I can’t or am unable to reconcile the doctrines coming from the Democratic Party anymore. They are anti everything. The overall rhetoric being conveyed from the top down, is simply frightening.
A lot of Hispanics, Blacks voters, vote because their families voted Democrat. This was my case. Before I was a Christian, I had heard how awful President Reagan was. What I kept hearing from my family and friends made my thoughts who they were.
To the point which I am now ashamed of admitting, that I grinned when we heard the President had been shot. This was in high school in the early 80s. How awful, lost and pathetic was I?
Brings me to the point I am making. We are what we hear. The social media and news outlets have a 90% negative reporting on President Trump. Even though he has done what he promised while campaigning. He has brought this country back from economic recession. Not that I am a 100% Trump supporter. He makes me cringe sometimes when he opens his mouth. This is in fact, what America is nowadays…more on that in a future post. Just remember, we elected what America is. Our reflection is who we vote in…
Compared to what we hear now in Democratic circles, if you were to take what JFK said in his State of The Union’s, he would sound very much like a conservative today…the shift in Democratic philosophy has drastically swung to the far left, almost socialist….I remember how most Democrats booed God in their 2016 convention.
This divisive crowd booed in 2012, DNC Chair Antonio Villaraigosa, had to ask three times for votes on reinserting references to God, and Jerusulem, back into the Democratic Party platform. Why? Because the Democratic Leadership knew that it had turned off a good percentage of liberal voters in the country. Some Democrats gave so many excuses when these two events happened. Yet, I see something happening that is very disconcerting. This party is becoming alarmingly secular and socialist. When people I know who are Democrats try to explain these events off as no big deal, I will stop them when I hear this and tell them:
- There was a time in America when someone started a prayer, 99.9% of people would stop everything and show respect for the prayer to God. This did not happen in the prayer/ convocation in 2016 nor did it stop there.
Granted, some people defend the boo’s saying that it was the Bernieites who booed against Hillary’s nomination. But, this is my point. Some adults have become like those unruly-screaming-for-everything-they-don’t-get-kids we all see at stores. The ones the parents look and stand by like victims instead of parents….
- To the sane Democrats out there, it looks like it’s your responsibility to become the parent who brings back the unruliness of your party. Before it’s too late.
This is the problem I see with the Democratic Party, they have allowed a good percentage of people to dictate and bully their agendas. It’s time for some of my family members who vote Democrat, to really think things through, before automatically voting for their Party. The videos say enough of what is happening. The news media shows off the screamer adult kids who have gotten their way throughout their lives without true parental discipline. Hence, the state we are now in. And hence, my Independence from that Party in decline…and my Independence in voting for what’s morally right, just and will glorify God!
When I was a kid, I remember wanting to be like such and such soccer player or dribbling like that basketball player, hitting the game winning run like that famous baseball player… Life was good and I, along with the rest of the neighborhood kids would imagine ourselves in big games with thousands of fans cheering for us while we saved that specific sports universe we were playing in. It was fun and it brought discipline to what we were doing in every sport we played.
As I got older, I didn’t want to be like this athlete or that athlete. I wanted to make my own game. I started realizing that I would watch the best athletes competing in their sport and learn their movements. But when I played, I wasn’t playing exactly like specific people. I was taking what I had seen and watched on TV and making it my own.
- Sadly, I find that a large number of people who have been Christians a long time, still have the ‘neighborhood kid playing’ mentality.
What is the ‘neighborhood kid playing‘ mentality? It is when a Christian who has been a Christian longer than others in the church, is still quoting pastors he listens to, book commentaries he or she reads, or quotes from social media constantly; and yet, this same person never quotes directly from scripture.
DISCLAIMER ***** Don’t get me wrong, I still quote all the above but it is not where I end. I usually say, “This pastor wrote this about this, this other pastor wrote this about this subject, here’s what the Word of God says and what I got from it, for application.” **********
- So it’s not that I don’t ever quote anyone, it’s that I have found out, the Bible is all I need.
The Word of God is and was from the beginning. Jesus is the Word(See John 1) He has spoken His Word into our lives and into His Word, the Bible which makes one wise, disciplines by showing us our true nature and then instructing us to grab on to Christ and not let go(see Hebrews 4:12-13).
Jesus tells us to do one thing. To go into all nations, and make disciples of all nations. We are to be teachable and then go out and teach others(See Matthew 28:19).
- Now here is where I do become that neighborhood kid playing, when I start imitating Jesus and Jesus alone.
