There are some people that get offended by this time of the year. They want us to stop saying “Merry Christmas” Because we are excluding people that may not be Christians and / or may not celebrate what Christmas is all about. The same people are trying so very hard to include everyone into this fantasy world of inclusion, that they forget one very specific and important thing:
Christmas is about inclusion! God loved the world so much he sent His Son to die for all of us (John 3:16 & John 3:17, Titus 2:11).
You see, a little child was born in Bethlehem roughly 2,000 years ago. He, as in a male child, came to be the future King of Humanity. His Title was Imanuel, Messiah, King of kings and Lord of lords.
His Name is Yeshua, Iésous, Jesucristo, Jezus Christus, Hesukristo, Gesù Cristo, Hisus K’ristos, just to name a few.
This time of the year would not be the same without this Baby being born in a small town in a little place of the world called Judea.
Too small of a town amongst its nation, and too insignificant of an event to make a dent in the Roman Empire. Yet, this small nation which was subject to the most powerful empire that history had seen, would be host to the greatest event in human His Story—The Almighty God would become a small and helpless Child. Born in a lowly manger or stable for animals.
Why? So that God could 30+ years later be our once for all Sacrificial payment. In order to redeem His children from the bondage of sin and separation which meant not from having total and complete connection to The Creator of the Heavens. This is how much God loves His rebellious human children, He sent Jesus to fix that separation.
God loves us so much (John 3:16 ), that He allowed His Son Jesus to become a helpless baby on that special night where a Star was signaling His arrival ( Matthew 2:2 ). So that those who were tired, in pain, sorrowful (Matthew 11:28-29), & faithful to their LORD would be the only ones to see His coming. Those were the people who were regularly looking up to the heavens for God to connect with His children (Matthew 5:3-12 ) again.
So how important is Christmas? It’s not just another day. It’s not celebrated in order to get presents under the tree. It’s not for family get togethers. It’s not to go out and party like it’s 2099! All the above may be okay for people to do, but they miss the mark on the true meaning of this Special Holy Day.
So whenever you have someone tell you “happy holidays”, remind them that there would not be any happy holidays on this special season if it weren’t for a Holy Night where a Star shone so bright; leading all those who were sick and tired, desparate, lonely on the inside, and looking up to the heavens for some kind of redemption from their Creator. Because Christmas is not for shopping or drinking eggnog or singing about a tree...
…It is about a little town in Israel, ushering in a new period of humanity. A new beginning of grace, mercy, peace and joy. Whether wars are fought, hell’s gates let loose all their vileness or global warming threatens to destroy earth! ( Isaiah 7:10-16; Micah 5:1-6; Luke 2:1-7 )
Those things will not and cannot ever take the place of that silent and Holy Night when The LORD Jesus humbled Himself and was born to a poor family inorder to feel, experience, and take the excuses of people saying that God is up there and we are miserably down here. That God has everything and we on earth are suffereing down here.
If you are poor, Jesus was too.
If you go hungry, Jesus was also hungry.
If you are suffering, Jesus suffered the most gruesome exeperience.
If you are tempted, Jesus was too.
If you are sad, Jesus cried the same way we have.
So today, make this holiday season a Holy Day Season. Allow yourself to go and worship the little baby in a small town called Bethlehem. Who is laying in a manger and is being hailed by the heavenly host as the Savior of Humanity! Be like the shepherds and the wise men who went to celebrate the birth of the King of kings and LORD of lords.
Allow yourself to get into the CHRISTmas Spirit. Don’t be afriad to say MERRY CHRISTmas & a happy New Year!
Because with Christ, the New Year will bring great joy & peace…no matter your situation
